Village Trustee T.L. Arends - Served on the Board 1991 - 2017
Bartlett officials and staff are saddened by the death of long-time Village Trustee T.L. Arends.
She died on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
Perhaps it is most fitting that we were able to honor Arends last fall with a plaque in our Town Center, recognizing her achievements and lifelong dedication, because she honored our community for more than three and a half decades with her selfless service.
Arends was elected to the Bartlett Park District Board of Commissioners in 1979 and held that office for more than 10 years, serving as the Park District Board President in 1986. During those same years, Arends found time to serve as the Bartlett Chamber of Commerce president, to sit on the Bartlett Economic Development Commission and the Bartlett Zoning Board of Appeals and to become the first female member of the Bartlett Lions Club.
In 1991, it was our municipality’s good fortune to have Arends add the title of Bartlett Village Trustee to her name. She was currently serving her 25th year in that role.
With still more to give the community that she loved, Arends became the first chairperson for the Bartlett 4th of July committee in 1993 and more recently, offered her time to the Bartlett Veterans Memorial Foundation and the Bartlett Rotary Club.
She was always there for the Village of Bartlett, helping wherever we needed her, without taking credit for or seeking the spotlight.
We ask everyone in the Village of Bartlett to join us in extending fond thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences to Trustee Arends’ family and friends during this difficult loss.
