Sewer Cleaning Scheduled for Three Areas
March 26, 2018 - There are approximately 157 miles of sewer in Bartlett. At some point, all sewer pipes are cleaned and inspected under Bartlett's Public Works (PW) sewer cleaning and inspection program. The cleaning and inspection keeps the sewer system operating efficiently by:
• Helping prevent blockages and backups
• Removing built-up debris, such as tree roots, grease, grit and sand
• Determining the condition of the sewer so the Village can repair or replace sewers as necessary
• Mandated by both the Illinois EPA (IEPA) and Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD)
In 2018, beginning on Monday, 4/2, PW crews are cleaning and inspecting the following areas, indicated as E-1, E-2 and E-3 on the map below. The PW Sewer Cleaning & Inspection Program webpage has full details about how the program works, what you can expect when crews are in your neighborhood and how to prepare your home in advance for sewer cleaning on your street.
