Safety Alert - Be Careful Who You Open Your Door To!

Post Date:04/04/2018
April 4 - Several local police departments are reporting an increase in ruse burglaries involving individuals posing as village employees or utility workers. These types of burglaries usually occur when a homeowner is distracted by one individual asking for permission to check the water pressure or perform other home repairs inside the residence or in the backyard while another person enters the unlocked residence to steal valuable items, such as cash or jewelry.

Please call 9-1-1 to report any suspicious activities in order to deter these types of crimes from occurring in the Village of Bartlett. Also, the Public Works Department will never ask for permission to enter your residence without leaving a door hanger and setting up an appointment. All Public Works Department employees drive village owned vehicles, carry proper village identification and have the Village of Bartlett logo on their uniform shirts and jackets. Residents can also call the Public Works Department at 630-837-0811 to verify that work is scheduled to be completed in their neighborhood or residence.
