Memorial Day Traffic Safety Campaign Results
Bartlett Police Department participated in the Illinois Department of Transportation’s (IDOT) 2018 Memorial Day DUI and Seat Belt enforcement campaigns from Friday, 5/18 through Tuesday, 5/29. These traffic campaigns were funded by federal safety funds through IDOT's Bureau of Safety Programs & Engineering.
The Police Department conducted an additional 40 hours of specialized traffic enforcement to target intoxicated drivers. Two motorists were charged with driving under the influence and one motorist for driving while license suspended. Officers also issued 31 citations for speeding violations, four citations for operating an uninsured motor vehicle and nine traffic citations for other moving or non-moving violations.
In addition, the Police Department also conducted 20 hours of specialized traffic enforcement to target seat belt violations. The police issued 12 traffic citations for seat belt violations and seven warning citations for various seat belt or moving violations.
