National Night Out 2016

The Village of Bartlett would like you to save the dates for its 23rd annual National Night Out celebration. Your participation is sure to make this year’s event a huge success. Here are the free activities scheduled for National Night Out 2016:

 

National Night Out Twilight Skate Park Bash
Friday, 7/29, 6 to 10 p.m. at Bartlett Skate Park

The Village of Bartlett, Bartlett Park District and Bartlett Fire Protection District will be hosting their free annual Twilight Skate Park Bash at the Bartlett Skate Park as part of this year’s National Night Out celebration. Kids and teens are invited to skate from 6 to 10 p.m. while listening to music and interacting with members of the Bartlett Police Department and the Bartlett Fire Protection District. A limited amount of free food and beverages will be provided.

 

National Night Out Family Tailgate/Family Pool Party
Friday, 7/29, 6 to 8 p.m., Jensen Pavilion & 8 to 10 p.m., Bartlett Aquatic Center

The Bartlett Police Department, Bartlett Park District, and Bartlett Fire Protection District would like to invite you to participate in the free National Night Out Tailgate Party at the Jim Jensen Pavilion from 6 to 8 p.m. Enjoy free face painting, a speed pitch competition, bean bag toss games, a balloon artist, the Little Obie Train Ride and build-a-kits. A limited amount of free food and beverages will be provided. Afterward, join the walk to the Bartlett Aquatic Center for the free National Night Out Family Pool Party from 8 until 10 p.m. A limited number of free root beer floats and glow sticks will be provided.

 

National Night Out Community Blood Drive/Prescription Drug Drop-off/Food Drive and School Supplies Drive
Saturday, 7/30, 8 a.m. to noon at Bartlett Village Hall

Blood drive donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment by visiting https://ht.heartlandbc.org/donor/schedules/drive_schedule/2030673 or by contacting Heartland Blood Centers’ representative Patti Hill at 331-454-1123. Walk-in appointments are also available to donors who are not able to schedule an appointment in advance. All blood drive donors will receive a free National Night Out t-shirt!

Potential blood donors must be at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds, be symptom free of cold, flu and  allergies, and be in general good health. The donation process takes about an hour from start to finish, which includes a registration, a health history survey, and blood pressure and iron level checks.

National Night Out Block Party & Neighborhood Lighting Competition

aturday, 7/30, 3 to 10 p.m. Village-wide

The Bartlett Police Department is looking for neighborhoods to participate in the National Night Out Block Party Competition on Saturday, 7/30 from 3 to 8 p.m. and the Neighborhood Lighting Competition on Saturday, 7/30 between 8 and 10 p.m. This is a great opportunity to get together with your neighbors to strengthen your community and to promote positive police-community partnerships. Members of the Bartlett Police Department and Bartlett Fire Protection District will be visiting several neighborhoods to determine the best lighted neighborhood, best overall, participation, theme, and spirit block party awards that will be presented at the 23rd Annual National Night Out Picnic in the Park event at Bartlett Park on Tuesday, 8/2.

National Night Out Putt, Chip, & Drive Crime Out of Bartlett Golf Skills Competition
Sunday, 7/31, 1 p.m., Bartlett Hills Golf Club

The Village of Bartlett will be hosting its 2nd annual National Night Out Chip, Putt & Drive Crime Out of Bartlett Golf Competition at the Bartlett Hills Golf Club on Sunday, 7/31. T-shirts and awards will be given out. Pre-registration is required at the pro shop 630-837-3230.

 

Bicycle Safety Check & Bike Ride with the Village 
Tues
day, 8/2, 4 to 4:30 p.m., starting at the Jim Jensen Pavilion

A free bicycle safety check will be offered at the Jim Jensen Pavilion from 4 to 4:30 pm. At 4:30 p.m., join dozens of bicycle enthusiasts as they take an enjoyable bicycle journey from the Jim Jensen Pavilion through the Village of Bartlett to Bartlett Park. A secured bicycle corral will be provided at the National Night Out Picnic in the Park until 8 p.m.

   

23rd annual National Night Out "Picnic in the Park"
& Guinness World Record Attempt
Tuesday, 8/2, 5 to 9 p.m., Bartlett Park

Enjoy a special evening at Bartlett Park with the Village of Bartlett, Bartlett Park District and Bartlett Fire Protection District. This award winning community event is scheduled to include: free food, giveaways, local business displays, and entertainment.

Also, in honor of Bartlett’s 125th birthday, the Village will attempt to set a Guinness world record during Picnic in the Park. To tie into Bartlett’s history and train roots, the community will attempt to break the record of the most people blowing train whistles simultaneously. The current record is 1,127, held by the Friends of the Chatham Historical Society (USA) in Chatham, New Jersey.

Let’s Go Bartlett! Come to Bartlett Park on 8/2 and help the Village “BLOW” past the current Guinness train whistle record!
